-
Private Minibus: The primary mode of transportation on this tour is a comfortable 18-seater minibus with a luggage trailer. You will need to navigate steps when boarding and disembarking the bus.
Whale Watching Boat: For the whale watching excursion, we will use a larger group vessel that is not private to our group. Boarding may require navigating steps and walking across a dock.
Safari Jeeps: During the safari, open-air jeeps will be used. These vehicles require climbing up into higher seats, and there are no ramps or lifts available.
Cobra AC Experience: This part of the tour involves driving retro convertible cars, known as Cobra ACs, with seating for two people per car. Before the trip, participants will be divided into drivers and non-drivers. If both passengers wish to drive, they can switch roles during the trip. To drive a Cobra, you must have an international driver’s license. Each vehicle requires a deposit of approximately $500 per vehicle which can be paid by card (refunded after the trip) or in cash. If you plan to drive, please take this into account. A motorcycle will accompany our group to manage traffic and ensure safety. The Cobras have automatic transmissions.
Luggage Handling: Travelers must be able to manage their own luggage throughout the tour as porters are not guaranteed. This includes handling bags at hotels, airports, and during transfers between different modes of transportation.
No Elevators Guaranteed: Some hotels may not have elevators, so be prepared to carry your luggage up and down stairs if necessary.
Please let us know in advance if you have any specific mobility or luggage-handling concerns so we can assist you in planning your trip.
-
Luggage Limitations: Each traveler is allowed a maximum of two bags—one checked bag and one carry-on—due to storage limitations in the luggage trailer attached to our minibus.
Airline Restrictions & Fees: Please be aware that airlines may charge additional fees if your baggage exceeds their size and weight limits. Travelers are responsible for any baggage fees incurred on all flights.
Verify with Airlines: Contact your airline(s) directly to confirm their specific baggage size and weight restrictions prior to your flight.
Labeling & Essentials: Make sure to clearly label your luggage and keep valuables, medications, and important documents in your carry-on bag for easy access.
Self-Handling of Luggage: Travelers must be able to handle their own luggage throughout the tour, as porterage is not guaranteed. This includes managing your bags at hotels, airports, and during transfers between vehicles and other modes of transport.
Please plan your packing accordingly to ensure a smooth travel experience.
-
Lightweight Clothing: We recommend packing lightweight, breathable clothing such as long-sleeve shirts and long pants to protect yourself from the sun. A wide-brimmed hat or cap is also essential to shield your face and neck from the strong sunlight.
Warm Layers for Evenings: Evenings in South Africa, especially near the coast and in game lodges, can be cool and windy. Be sure to pack a warm sweater or jacket, as well as a windbreaker to stay comfortable during chilly evenings and on safari.
Dressy Outfits: Bring a couple of dressy outfits for dining at the traditional African restaurant with live dance performances, and for any other special occasions during the tour. For the Cobra AC experience, a stylish yet comfortable outfit is recommended. Women may also consider bringing a scarf to keep their hair from getting tangled in the wind.
Sturdy Footwear: Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers are ideal for city tours and outdoor activities. Consider packing a pair of closed-toe shoes for hiking and safari excursions.
Sun Protection: Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated and protected from the sun throughout the day.
Active and Water Activities: For those participating in hiking, regular sneakers or supportive hiking boots are sufficient, but specialized footwear is also an option. If you’re planning to go shark diving, bring a swimsuit, as the diving center will provide a wetsuit. Additionally, pack swimwear and flip-flops for enjoying hotel pools or for swimming with the penguins.
First Aid Kit: Although there will be a basic first aid kit in the vehicle, we recommend bringing your own personal first aid kit, especially including stomach medications in case of acclimatization issues.
Adapters: South African outlets are different from those in most countries. While some hotels provide adapters, we will give each tour participant an adapter at the beginning of the tour to ensure you can charge your devices without any issues.
Hair Dryers: All hotels in this tour provide hair dryers in the rooms. However, if you prefer using your own, you are welcome to bring it along as hotel dryers may not always be powerful or convenient.
Toiletries & Personal Care: We recommend bringing your own cosmetics and personal hygiene products. Also, pack a power bank to keep your devices charged during long transfers.

This time zone is the same across the entire country, including popular destinations like Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban.
When traveling from Europe or the U.S., it’s important to be aware of the time difference. For instance, South Africa is typically 6 to 7 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the U.S., and 1 hour ahead of Central European Time (CET).
Be sure to adjust your devices to local time upon arrival to stay on schedule with your planned activities.

-Prepare for your journey by familiarizing yourself with local customs, such as tipping and bargaining, and learning basic phrases in the local language. This will help you engage more meaningfully with the culture.
-Always show respect when interacting with locals. Before taking photos of people, ask for their permission, and approach cultural differences with openness and understanding.
-We encourage travelers to reduce waste, especially single-use plastics. Bring your own toiletries, use digital documents whenever possible, and carry a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. If you must use disposable items, please recycle them properly.
-
General:
– Always adhere to the safety instructions provided by your guide and driver, especially regarding areas and times where it is safe to explore on your own.

– We recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover potential illness or flight cancellations, allowing you to receive full or partial refunds. We are happy to assist you in arranging the insurance.
Safari Safety Guidelines:
– Always remain seated during game drives unless instructed otherwise by your guide. Do not leave the vehicle or attempt to approach animals on foot.
– Keep your noise level to a minimum, as loud sounds can disturb the animals and disrupt the safari experience.
– Never feed or attempt to touch the animals, as this can be dangerous for both you and the wildlife.
– Wear neutral-colored clothing to avoid attracting unnecessary attention from the animals.

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to capture many unforgettable moments, but it’s important to be mindful of local rules and respect the environment and communities we visit. Here’s a breakdown of where and when photography, filming, and the use of drones are permitted:
1. Photography and Filming in Public Areas
In most public areas, such as Cape Town, Hermanus, and along the Garden Route, photography and filming are generally allowed. Feel free to capture the scenic beauty of these regions, but always ask for permission before photographing individuals, especially in local communities.
2. No Filming Zones
There are specific areas where filming and photography are either restricted or prohibited:
– Museums and Cultural Sites: Photography is often restricted in places like museums or cultural landmarks, such as the Apartheid Museum or Diamond Exchange, due to the preservation of artifacts and privacy concerns. Please follow any posted signs regarding photography restrictions.
– Wildlife Reserves: While filming is allowed during safaris at Aquila Game Reserve, using flash photography is discouraged as it can disturb the animals. Drones are also prohibited within the game reserve to avoid disrupting wildlife.
3. Drone Usage
The use of drones is allowed in open public areas like the Cape Peninsula or Knysna, but not in national parks, reserves, or near airports:
– Allowed: You may use your drone in areas like Signal Hill or coastal landscapes for personal use. However, always be mindful of local regulations and check weather conditions before flying.
– Not Allowed: Drone usage is prohibited in Aquila Game Reserve, Table Mountain, and Boulders Beach (penguin area), to protect the wildlife and ensure safety for all visitors.
4. Maps and Permits
